Got a question about how Bookhounds works?

If you can’t find what you’re looking for, drop us a line on hello@bookhounds.club

It is really simple. Sign-up for a rolling monthly, 3-month or 12-month subscription. Every month, you’ll get an inspiring new book celebrating a runner’s story delivered directly to your door. Next, we release loads of great content to complement your reading including a podcast sharing reflections on the book and an author interview. Then we’ll start-up a conversation in the Bookhounds goodreads group. We encourage all Bookhounds to get involved in the conversation and share their thoughts and feelings on the book, but you’re just as welcome to sit back and listen. When you join us you aren’t just a subscriber, you are a Bookhound. This is your club; a space to learn and share your passions for reading and running.

Ah, well that's part of the fun! Some months you're certain to find the exact book you'd have picked for yourself while browsing in a store. But other months you may be a little out of your comfort zone. Here at Bookhounds we read adventurously! That said, the books are always about runners and running, so we're sure that you'll love (or at least learn something from) every book we send. Our team picks the books, but we're always open to suggestions.

Previous books have included:
  • Feb 2021, 'Finding Gobi' by Dion Leonard
  • March 2021, 'Running in the Midpack' by Anji Andrews and Martin Yelling.
  • April 2021, 'Marathon Mum' by Rachel Brown with Warren Fitzgerald.
  • May 2021, 'In It For The Long Run' by Damian Hall.
  • June 2021, 'How parkrun Changed Our Lives' by Eileen Jones.

YES! Bookhounds is all about sharing the joy of running whether that is plodding round a parkrun or a podium finish at an ultramarathon. Runners come in many different shapes, sizes and genders, and so do our members. We select books that represent this great diversity. So while we hope you’ll be inspired by champion athletes, we also share stories from “ordinary” runners. Join the club and see where Bookhounds can take you.

We're confident that you’re going to love (or at least learn something from) every book we send to you. Some of the books may fall outside of your usual interest area or are authored by someone very different from yourself. But Bookhounds are curious people and we encourage each other to give it a go; you might be surprised!

However, if you’re really sure you don’t want the book, let’s chat on hello@bookhounds.club and we can offer an extension to your subscription or similar. See our terms and conditions for details.

We pick a lot of new running books so when you join Bookhounds, lay-off those pre-orders and we'll probably be okay! But if you get a book you've already read, in the spirit of sharing our love of reading and running, we encourage you to gift the book to a friend. You’ll still be able to join the conversation about the book in our goodreads group and enjoy the members only content about the book.

If you’d like, we can also offer you an extra month’s subscription at no additional cost, just email us on hello@bookhounds.club to chat. See our terms and conditions for details.

Should do. We mostly send paperback books in cardboard envelopes that easily fit through any standard letterboxes.

You can manage your personal details in the “My Account” area of the website. Or if that sounds too much like hard work, just email us on hello@bookhounds.club and we’ll sort it for you.

We’ll be sad to say goodbye, but understand that circumstances change. You’ll need to cancel your membership in the “My Account” area of the website. If you have purchased a 3-month or 12-month subscription, you will be refunded on a pro-rata basis, minus an admin fee of £10. Please refer to the terms and conditions page for more information.

We want our club to have a positive impact on our members and beyond. With each member making a small contribution through their subscription each month, our combined contribution can make a real difference. Our charity partners help to share a love of reading and care for our environment. Find out more about our charity partners here.

We will review our charity partners annually. If you know a charity that fits with our ethos, aims and values, drop us a line on hello@bookhounds.club.

Yes. Like a traditional running club, we make a kit order a few times a year. Keep an eye on your emails for details of how to order. We'll sell eco-friendly lifestyle (non-technical) merchandise all year round, launching soon...

First and foremost, we’re an online community. We often share training plans, route ideas and running inspiration on our blog. As a community, Bookshounds connect with each other via our digital platforms such as our goodreads group. However, we do have ambition to organise regional meet-ups, virtual races and retreats in the future. Watch this space!

Not at the moment. Nothing beats the feeling of leafing through the pages of a new book. We appreciate that publishing and book production can harm the environment and are looking into off-setting all of our operations. In the meantime, we support an environmental charity through every subscription.

You’re welcome to join our goodreads group and listen to the podcast, but you won’t get access to exclusive member's content such as author interviews, online events, discounts and special offers or Bookhounds technical merch. However, if you’re keen to be a member without the book subscription, do let us know as it might be something we can offer in the future.

At the moment, we are only able to offer subscriptions to UK addresses. Our subscription fees include the cost of deliver and so this simply won't work for international postage. However, if you'd like to join and live outside the UK, we'd love to hear from you as international delivery might be something we can explore at a later date. Drop us a line on hello@bookhounds.club.
